Dirtwear was born from a name, a nickname, and a story that started long before the brand ever existed.

Growing up in Louisiana, I had an afro that always looked dusty—dirty, even. Neighborhood kids started calling me “Dirt.” Instead of rejecting it, I embraced it. As an artist, I began signing all my drawings with the name Dirt, turning what started as a joke into a signature.

My art came straight from what I knew—what I saw, what I lived, and what I grew up around. The streets, the struggle, the culture, the creativity. Drawing wasn’t just a hobby; it was a way to document my world.

In the 1980s and 1990s, I started putting my artwork on clothing—long before it was trendy. With the support of my father, I was able to purchase a four-color screen printing press, and that moment changed everything. What began as drawings on paper became statements you could wear.

That’s how Dirtwear was created.

Dirtwear is more than streetwear. It’s a canvas. It represents creativity born from limited resources, pride rooted in struggle, and style shaped by real life. Every design tells a story, inspired by Black culture, resilience, and self-expression.
